Since 1977 Demesne Electrical has grown from humble beginnings to become Ireland’s leading, importer & distributor of industrial electrical components.
In 46 years of business we’ve fostered a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, building robust and rewarding partnerships, investing trust and responsibility in our team, navigating external challenges and relentlessly focusing on the road ahead. We’ve put customer service at the heart of our business, put faith in our people and been rewarded with over four decades of consistent business growth.
On January 13th at 20.10pm we became part of the OEM group of companies. This opens four hundred group suppliers to us to look at bringing to the Irish Market
It is an exciting time for all our staff and an opportunity to continue our stellar growth.
Now, as we look to the future, we are excited about continuing on a path of further innovation and excellence
In 1977, brothers Noel and Cyril McLoughlin spotted a market opportunity, founding Demesne Electrical to connect the electrical industry in Ireland with top European brands and product developers. Key to their vision was building not just a distribution ecosystem, but a network of strong human relationships, and much of the company’s formative years was spent building trust and affinity with both brands and customers alike.
Breakthrough for Demesne Electrical came in 1980 when a deal with Télémécanique (later part of Schneider Electric) setting the fledgling company on the road to becoming the French manufacturer’s biggest Irish distributor (unbeknown to Télémécanique executives, business headquarters for Demesne Electrical at the time was a humble house on Dublin’s Robin Hill Road).
Partnership with Télémécanique changed all that, becoming the foundation stone on which the future of the business was to be built. The following year, now with a staff of 15, the Demesne Electrical moved to a large and purpose-fitted premises in the city, the first of many such expansions to follow as the business grew over the years. Other significant distribution agreements followed, including with Merlin Gerin (1983), Tele Haase (1985), Fibox (1991) and many more.
Branches Nationwide
With Demesne Electrical having consistently grown our portfolio of partnerships over the years the company also expanded, opening national distribution centres in Cork (1985) and Dungannon (1999), the latter in response to strong customer demand in Northern Ireland and UK territories.
Other milestones were achieved over the years including the achievement of ISO 9001 accreditation in 1990 and the launch of the company’s first website in 1996. All the time Demesne Electrical continued to grow, necessitating investment in people, infrastructure and premises.
In 1998 our Dublin HQ moved to a substantial, purpose-built office and warehouse/distribution facility in The Square industrial Complex campus in Dublin 24, one of the largest commercial property transactions in the city at the time.
Meanwhile our Cork premises also outgrew its roots, with the southern team moving to a larger & purpose built facility in Little Island (2003)
The company also began to lay the foundations for digital change, launching a dedicated e-commerce shop in 2016 to leverage the demand for online sales and provide customers with access to the full portfolio of Demesne Electrical products 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – from anywhere in the world.
In 2012, with the global economy showing signs of tentative recovery, Demesne Electrical was named a 'Deloitte Best-Managed' firm for the first time, a point of particular pride for the management team and an accolade the company has retained every year thereafter (achieving Platinum Status in 2019).
The following year, the company was named as Distributor of the Year by the Electrical Industries Federation of Ireland, a fitting recognition of its journey to success and commitment to excellence.
